ADULT SESSIONS ARE HELD 5 TIMES PER YEAR!! Pottery using the Potter's Wheel - for Adults This course is an introduction to the potter's wheel for beginners with little or no experience at wheel throwing. In this class students will learn the process of wheel throwing; including wedging, centering, trimming, and techniques for decorating and glazing. All levels of experience are welcome.If you have experience, we will teach to your skill level.

Working with Porcelain
This class is design for individuals with some clay experience that are interested in using porcelain. Explore decorating techniques with cone 6 porcelain.
Dates: Thursday August 14 to October 2 Evening 6-8:30 pm

Cost: $220 materials Not included. There will be 2 types of porcelain that can be purchased for use. The class size is limited to 10 students per class.
Wood Firing Class This class is designed for any individual that is interested in learning about firing a kiln with wood.
All skill levels are welcome. There will be 3 work days to produce pieces for the firing. The 4th day will be used to glaze and decorate the work. The 5th class will consist of loading the kiln. The next class will be FIRING and the last class will be unloading.

Li Chao will demonstrate traditional Chinese brushwork on plates and vessels. This type of traditional brush work has been expressed on Chinese porcelain for 2000 years. Typically it is done with a cobalt blue stain. Today in Jingdezhen, China this tradition is being carried on traditionally as well as in new forms of expression.
Bring bisque ware to create your own brush work. We will provide both the cobalt stain and the bamboo brushes.

Create fantastic beads with amazing movement that seems to come from within. Learn to use a variety of soft glass colors that are known for their mysterious luster due to a high metal content. Doug Remschneider, a workshop master, will share his vast knowledge of working with these challenging silver-luster colors. Class involves the use of a torch with open flame and gases. Glass kit included (contents listed below). Wear safety (didymium) glasses, cotton clothing and closed-toe shoes. Tie long hair back.
Level: Advanced Beginner.

Experience the magic of creating beautiful borosilicate beads with award-winning (and Guild favorite) lampwork artist Doug Remschneider. In this 2-day class, he will share his expertise in borosilicate beadmaking and off-mandrel projects. In the 2 days you will learn how to create beads that are drenched in colors by layering and color-mixing, flamestriking for exact color control, special annealing cycles for achieving pinks and purples and manipulating the glass to create exciting designs. Doug will also cover the chemical properties of borosilicate color which helps explain how this glass reacts to heat. With the perfect balance of instructor demonstrations and hands-on torch time this is a class not to be missed. Torch Experience needed. Glass provided. Please bring your own tools when possible.

This is the class your friends have been telling you about. Come and learn how to make your own glass beads! In this popular, affordable and exciting workshop, students will learn how to make their own mini works of glass art from Sharon Carlucci. Effetre glass rods are heated with a mixed gas torch and the glass is "wound" around a steel rod (which forms the hole in the bead!). Many techniques will be taught, such as: decorating with dots; feathering; shaping; and making stringers and twisted canes. This is a one-day beginning level workshop, so safety and set-up will also be covered. Spaces are limited to eight students per class so please register early.

You've got the makings of a great glass bead career: you're creative, you've got style but you don't quite have all the skills yet. This is the class for you. A fun, exciting and challenging course to raise your abilities to the next level.
Learn various techniques to decorate and embellish your beads with silver foil, enamels, frits and powders. You'll practice cased stringers, goldstone, twisted canes and latticino. And we'll work through issues with encased and hollow beads.
Students will need to have had completed a beginning level workshop and should have some time behind the torch. Sharon will also do some trouble-shooting, students should come with questions about how to improve technique or "how do I do this?" questions. Course will be customized towards students needs. Take the step to the next level of beadmaking.
